Northern Italy – the Dolomites, Milan, Venice, Lakes Como & Garda

Background

Milan is the north’s largest and busiest business city, famous for its architecture, shopping and restaurants (and Da Vinci’s “Last Supper”) . Lakes Como and Maggiore, about an hour away, are Milan’s polar opposite — serene and quiet villages sit in Alpine beauty along some of Europe’s deepest lakes.

Ideal For

Perfect for adult friends traveling together or newlyweds…. but there isn’t a lot to keep kids interested, though.

When to Go

For most of the cities, best months are March thru October. Venice is extremely muggy in July and August, while the Dolomite mountains are a great place to cool off in the summer (we often take a vacation there in July; take a look a photo gallery of the Dolomites here)

Things Our Clients Have Liked

Milan: Sforza Castle. Duomo (cathedral). DaVinci’s “Last Supper” painting. Pinacoteca Amrosiana (museum dedicated to paintings).

Lake Como: the towns of Como, Varenna, Menaggio and Bellaggio. Villa Carlotta’s gardens. Villa Balbianello. Isola Comacina.

Lake Maggiore: the town of Stresa. Isola Madre’s gardens and villa. Isola Pescatori. Lugano (in Switzerland).
